We actively encourage those in our local community to  join us for any of our events and we hold a Wednesday lunch club every week and have a Saturday lunch club once a month.

Our Mission Statement is:-

CHURCH SERVICES

Church Service

Every Sunday at 11a.m. including Sunday School. On the first Sunday in every month our service includes communion. The building is all on ground level with disabled access. There is a car park.

Once every four months we hold what we call our "Text Sunday". This is where the previous week all those who are at our service get given a couple of verses from the bible. The following Sunday they bring an item which they believe is found in the verses they have been given to read. It might be bread, fish, soup, fruit etc. They read out the verses and bring their gift and put it on the communion table. The verses are picked from a box and no one knows what verses they will get to read.

On the last Sunday in every month we hold our FAMILY SERVICE which is specifically for children to join in with the action songs and stories we will use.

Infant dedication, baptisms, marriage and funerals - please enquire on the 'contact us' form below or ring 07890 354350 or 01204 418576. Other special services include Good Friday, Easter Day, Sermons Sunday (June), Harvest (October), Remembrance Day (November) and our Toy service (November). Our nativity service and our church carol service are on consecutive Sundays in December - usually the 2nd and 3rd Sundays. Our Christmas Eve communion service starts at 11.30 p.m. and our Christmas Day family service is at 10.30 a.m.

Our covenant service is held on the first Sunday in the new year and includes communion.

Sunday School

Every Sunday at 11am.  All children are welcome.  Children usually stay in for the first part of the service and then leave to go to Sunday school. This takes place in the Telford Room.

On the first Sunday in every month we celebrate Holy Communion and the children return to join us for this part of the service.

Services

All our services start at 11.00 a.m. unless otherwise stated and include Sunday School. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday in each month. Do please join us for any of our services.

THE EXTENSION (THE TELFORD ROOM)

We are very grateful to all those who have made donations to the project. Due to your support we have been able to achieve our goal. For a small church we feel we have achieved something to be really proud of and it has been a real team effort. With the help of the architect, builder, roofers, electrician, plasterers and Marwood Builders, the project has come to a brilliant conclusion - we have a wonderful resource for use by both our church and the local community.

The new room has its own tea and coffee making facilities and can be "set up" as necessary. It also has a projector and the IT facility can be connected to the internet. There is wi-fi. The room will normally remain empty so it can be set up, as appropriate, for each activity or function. It has a laminate floor.

The room can be hired and should you wish to do this please ring 07890 354350.

THE WORSHIP ROOM (THE BARLOW/HACKNEY ROOM)

The worship room is the same size as the extension. It can seat up to 50 people comfortably and has a laminate floor. There is a projector, screen and lap top along with audio facilities. There is also an organ. There is a fully equipped kitchen which is off the room with tea and coffee making facilities as well as cooking facilities.

Access to the kitchen is possible via the corridor if the worship room is in use.

THE VESTRY (THE WOOD ROOM)

There is a small room we call the vestry and this can hold up to about eight people. It is always available for 1:1 conversations and also for outside use for meetings with only a few people in attendance. Tea and coffee making facilities available.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen has remained as it was since the church was built in 1982/83. Over the years the use of the kitchen has increased and the numbers we now have at our Wednesday Lunch Club and monthly Saturday lunch have necessitated the kitchen be upgraded. This has been done with a grant from the Bolton CVS.

CHURCH SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES

Our Sunday service starts at 11.00 a.m. We all gather and for the first part of the service the children are with us. They then go out to Sunday School and, if appropriate, join us again towards the end of the service. This is usually when we share communion together.

Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday in every month.

The various activities are now all running again - yoga, Mah Jong, mums and toddlers and arm chair exercises for our senior friends along with the Wednesday lunch club. Please see details further down the page.

Ou

IPRAYERS

Please be assured that during this time of uncertainty, stress and tension we hold you in our prayers.

There are those who are feeling lonely and anxious and some are housebound. Please pray for them.

There are those of our fellowship who need our prayers - Joyce, Doreen, Carole, Terry and those outside our fellowship - Christine, David, Susan, Mark and Andrew.

We continue to pray for those parts of the world where there is war, tensions, unrest, injustice and hunger.

Closer to home - the tension between Government, Police and citizens of this country as the various protests take place in London and elsewhere in the UK.

For those working at Baptist headquarters, those at the NWBA and our local charities supporting those in need of food and help.

MAINTENANCE OF THE CHURCH

We are constantly making sure the church is safe and the upkeep of the building and the site is important to all of us because we would like the church to be used whenever it is required by whoever wishes to use it. Whilst we appreciate that utility costs have risen dramatically, we do our best to ensure our hire costs are such that anyone wishing to use the building is able to do so and keep within their budget. Our church is there for use and we encourage anyone who wishes to use it to contact us and come and have a look round before deciding if it what you are looking for. Please ring 07890 354350 for further details.

COVID

We now have freedom to meet to worship and the groups who use the church are able to resume their activities again. We are, however, mindful we still need to be aware that the virus is still present and will be for the foreseeable future and some of our fellowship are still cautious. Please pray for them and in time we hope they will feel able to come and be with us once again.

Hand sanitizer is always available in the entrance foyer.

THANK YOU

Sincere thanks are due to everyone who has helped in any way towards the extension of our church. Your support, interest and encouragement has meant a lot to us and together we have, for a small church, completed what has been for us a very large project. Please tell others we have two good size rooms that may be hired and encourage our local community to come and have a look.

The extension is finished. The new room is available to hire as is the worship room and both rooms are about the same size - 8 metres by 7.2 metres. Both rooms have a laminate floor. We hope you like what you see. The church is suitable for children's parties - please enquire - 07890 354350 or via the church website. av
CHILDREN'S PARTIES

The two rooms are ideal for children's parties. From babies to toddlers and up to about 7 or 8 the rooms lend themselves to having a bouncy castle in one room and the refreshments in the other. We do have an excellent contact for bouncy castles (they know the size of bouncy castle that fits into the room) and we also have a useful contact if you wish to have a children's entertainer or magician. Please enquire when you are considering making your booking. Please contact Emma on 07860 211176 or Simon on 07890 354350. You can also send an email to this website.

The church is available for hire and has two rooms. The main room (the Barlow/Hackney room) is the worship room with a carpet floor. The kitchen (fully equipped) is available when this room is hired. The extension (the Telford room) has a laminate floor and a work top facility with microwave, water boiler, kettle and washing up area. Crockery and cutlery are available.

For meetings there are IT facilities (lap top, projector, screen, sound and internet access) or you can bring your own lap top to link into the system. Wi-fi is available.

There are folding tables (some are 4' x 3'' and there are three tables of 6' x 3'') and up to 50 chairs.

Both rooms are approximately 7.50 metres x 7.50 metres.

Thought for the month

As we move towards Easter, we hope you are finding time during this season we call Lent to take time to reflect on your life, your commitments and what perhaps lies ahead for you in the months that follow. The events of the day we call Palm Sunday bring into focus the way we all have to make choices - sometimes they are good and sometimes not so good. On that Palm Sunday the crowds who lined the road to greet and cheer Jesus as He entered Jerusalem, having thrown their cloaks and palm branches onto the road where Jesus was riding on a donkey, quickly turned against Him and their hosannas turned to crucify him because He was not the king they were expecting or wanting. They wanted to be free from the rule from Rome but Jesus had other ideas. He came into Jerusalem on a donkey - a beast of peace not a war horse.

The story unfolds as Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested and throughout the whole of the trial, flogging, sentence, crucifixion, death and burial, at no time does anyone have anything that makes Jesus a criminal. Pilate simply washed his hands of the whole thing as he tried to show it was not him who sentenced Jesus to death but others.

It is easy to "pass the buck". We all do it at some point in our lives.

However, the wonderful story of Easter is that on the third day the women who came to the tomb to pour spices and oils onto the body of Jesus found the tomb was empty. They were amazed. They could not quite work things out. It was Mary in the garden who saw who she believed was the gardener and asked him a question and the one word answer set her heart pounding - MARY - she knew immediately it was Jesus' voice. After this Jesus appeared to the disciples and then ascended into heaven. However, the disciples were given an instruction - "Go and make disciples of all the nations baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." And that is the task of his disciples today. The good news of the resurrection must be shared and because of the miracle of the resurrection we have the opportunity of salvation and eternal life. Jesus has opened the door of heaven to us and only through Him can we come to God the Father. The powerful message of Easter - what seemed a hopeless situation on Good Friday turned into a hopeful wonder on Easter morning. Thanks be to God!
